A Random Meme

 First, the Rules:
1) Post these rules before you give your facts
2) List 8 random facts about yourself
3) At the end of your post, choose (tag) 8 people and list their names, linking to them
4) Leave a comment on their blog, letting them know they’ve been tagged

It’s good to know you have friends out there in the blogosphere. Thanks Rachel for the tag. I kinda needed a kick to get going again and I think you just did it. Here are my 8 randoms in on particular order:

1. Once, when I was a kid I pushed my little sister down the stairs… all 13 of them from top to bottom- She was annoying me and we were home alone, she always got the better of me, so you can imagine how my story ends but anyway I push her and she goes bump bump bump all the way down head over heels the works and lies motionless at the bottom of the stairs. So I run down saying “ Don’t be stupid Cheryl, get up, come on, Cheryl? Cheryl? CHERYL?” I’m thinking I’ve killed her by the time I get to the bottom- she’s all limp and everything. So I reach for the phone which is to hand and I’m dialling 999, the woman picks up at the other and begins to say “Hello, which service do you….” Cheryl jumps up, points right at me and laughs in my face. – Just for the record she continues to get the better of me- everytime.

2. I was a huge Star Wars fan, kinda still am. Got heaps of the figures, every birthday and Christmas from 6 to 12 I’d get stuff.

3. I once went tramping with my mate from Uni, disappeared down crack in the rock which was covered in story immediately after a conversation I had which went like this:

Me: So what’s this hill called?

Calum: It’s the

Lost
Valley.

Me: Why’s it called that?

Calum: because lots of hikers have……. (that’s when I fell)

I kid you not. If you scripted it people would call it stupid.

4. I have bungy jumped twice.

5. I’m having a party on September 1st. I’ve been teaching 10 years.

6. My dad said he’d pay me 150 pounds if I got 4 GCSE’s C or above. I walked away with 8…… tried to talk him into giving me 300 but he just laughed.

7. My favourite soup is oxtail…. but I can’t find it in
New Zealand.

8. I was born in Bolton, grew up in Wales, moved to Lancaster, worked in London, moved to Scunthorpe, began my own family in
New Zealand. So forgive me if I pause a moment when you ask, “So, where are you from?”

  1. He he he I’m still giggling. What an entertaining 8 random things. Your first prompted a confession of my own. When I was little my little brother used to drive me crazy, so I told him to stand on the stairs (so he was the same height as me) then promptly punched him. He then went on to become a black belt in Karate, maybe I was the catalyst? :)

  3. I am so glad you sister was OK! That certainly must have made a big impression!

I haven’t heard someone say “tramping” for many years… I climbed all 4 of the “4 peaks” around Geraldine on the South Island when I was a summer exchange student there in 1987. I loved it. I went with AFS on their “Outdoor Skills Programme.” Some of my best memories were that summer…. and I simply adore New Zealand, as well as its people.

I wish I could order fish and chips wrapped in newspaper at the local restaurant…. or order a meat pie at school! Pausing mid-morning for tea and crumpets (or whatever else you had brought from home to eat) was an excellent idea, which I think we should widely implement in all our U.S. schools. Might help with the ridiculous stress levels among both students and teachers.

    Thanks for sharing! :-)
