An interesting question to answer
A little while ago I was asked to participate in a study regarding professional development using web 2.0 tools. I’m sure it was more than that or slightly different but along those lines.
Anyone who knows knows me will know that I am not good in a synchronous situation, so I was pleased to have received a copy of the transcript for me to include some additional thoughts. I was also pleased to here that I could blog about it if I wanted to…. so I will.
Although I have not finished with the transcript I wanted to share these thoughts with you about how I got into this whole thing and ask you in return…. What or who got you into this web2.0 journey?
The introduction of the interactive whiteboard into my classroom has really made a huge difference to how I teach. First of all, I began by simply just using it as… like you would an OHP. So I did a little bit of that, and just as my knowledge of that technology grew I was introduced to ways and means of incorporating that into a classroom, or integrating it more fully. I then progressed into getting children interacting with it a little bit more. I used it as a demonstration platform. My children are then able to access a wide variety of information, and I use it now for them to be able to drive their learning a little bit more. (Blog entry)I have incorporated a wiki into my classroom practice (though that was frowned upon by middle management and I was not allowed to develop it further). Some students loved it and poured their time in at home. I would certainly experiment with it another time- Maybe next year. With the PD provided by the IWB supplier broadening to include Skype and blogs and wikis it motivated me to find out more about the edublogoshere.
So where did it start for you?
