A blessed training session

This has been a post a long time in the writing- There not much to it, but rather life has git in the way.
Some time ago I visited St. Matthew’s Primary School to deliver some PD on using Digital Cameras in the
classroom. I must confess I must have learnt as much from this session if not more than the attendees. Firstly, the venue was wonderfully cool on a hot day. The teachers and kids were thoughly engaged in the process. We spent some time working with PhotoStory3 and talking about Voicethread (No internet connection at the alter)
I never realised that their were so many different set ups for digital camera. Canon and Sanyo interfaces are similiar but Sony look completely different. Perhaps their is a move toward standardisation in a mobile phone and Laptop sort of way.
20 something betters to do with a digital camera was title.
Had the usual "Make a slideshow of school camp for assembly" but I was wondering what everyone else
used their Digital Cameras for.
So my question is:
What do you do differently with a digital camera in your learning environment?

I don’t know how exciting or original these are but here are 3 of mine.
1. Kids photograph work they have done with maths manipulatives. I get them to write their name on a slip of paper and place it by their work and then take a photo. Provides a permanent record of something that would normally be temporary. Our latest pics were of examples of rotational symmetry created with pattern blocks.
2. There’s 5 Frame Story Telling
3. Photo-shopping and combining photos to create works of art or provide imaginary scenes for illustrations to support poems and stories.
I’ve been trying to get my teachers to use flickr recently so they can utilize some of the cool tools here: http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/
and many of my teachers like to make short videos on their digital cameras.
Thanks for sharing your training session!
We’ve been doing a bit of green-screen work- taking kids photos against a plain wall and then using Ketnote’s instant alpha to put them in different situations and scenarios.
I give the kids a camera to take home and take photos to bring back and share with the class and put on the blog.
Animation with Quicktime Pro is real simple- the $2 shop had little tripods but they’ve sold out.
