http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3547/3365138824_74d6b353ce.jpg?v=0 In the brief time he was in classes, he learnt how to draw, write, freeform capture, record himself and insert a sound file into an interwrite document. This shows how easy the programme is to use and how many skills our 6-8 year olds have acquired in guiding him through these processes. He was impressed with the level of technology these children were using.
A fantastic experience for our children and staff.

  2. @pratt you may well be right. But there are several other thoughts:
    1. Its an Intermediate class??
    2. They have a atep installed (which I have seen)
    3. John Key is a lot shorter than he looks on TV ;-)

  3. Hi ya greg

You are welcome to visit the school and see the fantastic shared evironment that IS owhata.
Yes the boards are high, but as mentioned the children have a step, a solution to the height issue that the children came up with themselves. We also have pads that the children are able to use. All our rooms have a board and the majority of the time it is being used by children, it may well be considered a tool but at our school its most definately the childrens tool.

  4. It is actually a Year 4 class and the children are very actively involved in using the whiteboard. It is definitely not a teacher demonstration tool. Our children problem solve and have worked out how to overcome height issues. You’re welcome to come and see them in action. The page in the photo showed sound recordings – no great skill involved in pushing a button on the laptop to play them or taller children can reach. When they are involved in making resources and sharing ideas the children use the whiteboard, laptop, pad and pc’s. It does not all have to be done on the whiteboard. I seriously invite you to come and see what we are doing.
