This evening is when our church family get together, share supper and discuss our thoughts about this Easter time. This year is particularly special as it is the first time my boy will be accompanying us. Mourn-day Thursday gives us pause to consider Jesus’ final hours.

There is some discussion that ‘3days in the tomb’ can’t be added up from Friday to Sunday, that somehow that means Easter is all wrong. But to be honest, I not sure that it really matters. Mourn-day Thursday to Easter Day are merely a period of time, which happens to coincide with the Jewish festival, that offers a time to consider the Cross of Jesus and this sacrifice.

Today’s episode “The Hour has come” is a careful consideration of why Jesus is here, and the impact of his ministry.

I have always taken away the same message from that passage, that we must stand up for Jesus when we’re talking about our faith and belief. But what I saw for the first time, ever I think, is the presence of "the other disciple who is known to Caiaphas (the high priest)" . The presence of this disciple enables Peter to enter the inner courtyard but then he is not mentioned, but is purely an observer of Jesus’ trial. Is he standing with Jesus? Beside him? Or from a distance?
The message here today does not concern this incident I describe, that is for Friday. Today we are considering Jesus’ relationship with Lazarus, Mary and Martha. Why does he take six days to come to the aid of his beloved friend?

“The Shepherd and the Thief” was first delivered by Paul Davison at Hastings Baptist Church on the 22nd March 2009.
I share it here as part of my Easter journey. As Jesus approaches his final days so he continues to speak publicly about who he is….

It is entitiled “Never walk in Darkness again” -From John8. Through the remainder of this week I will be directing you to other messages which all lead up to Easter Sunday, which will be my final post on the Subject. I guess the key message over this week is to consider what Jesus says of himself and decide for yurself if he is either:

a. Mad

b. Bad

c. The Son of God.

Whether you choose to believe or not, it is my opinion that everyone be given the opportunity to listen for themselves and deciding for themselves.
