Learning at Schools I’m here!

Oddly it amused me and encouraged me to be waving frantically through the car window at Allanah on my way to dinner during the keynote.

It feels almost wrong to be a conference but to be missing out on the keynote- being on a stand seems alien at the moment. So feel free to come over and say hi during the breaks I on Breathe Technology stand in the foyer. Don’t be shy.

If only you could have seen me!

We legged it out of the restaurant and into the car at 8.35pm. Jenny drops me off on the corner of Fenton Street and I am running madly towards the Convention Centre hoping to be in time for the delegates exiting the keynote and walking past the stand.

Then my phone beep and it’s Amanda with a taxt to say that they are all leaving now! I’m still running remember trying to type back ‘Ta’. So now the freshly ironed shirt is looking a litttle worse for wear, I’m booting up the computers (x2) on the stand as everyone is filing past. I have zero time to say “Excuse me, would anyone like to go in the draw for some free technology training?”

By the time Amanada rocks up I must have looked a right idiot. Not at all professional!

Lucky for me though I am beating Jenny 6-1 on people signed up and have the advantage of having the stand to my self tomorrow morning- or is it this morning for it is incredibly late just now.

not to self: must take some pictures.

Starting out

I delivered my first bit of training today. I was delighted with the enthusiasm of those who attended. One week out from term start, teachers busily getting into their rooms and preparing their resources and rooms for a fresh set of eager faces and they come to my session about using an interactive whiteboard in their classroom…. They are all stars.

Point of note from the session…. How can I speed up, cover the material and still ensure the teachers are ‘getting’ it all. I experimented with rushing through a portion of the presentation to allow for people to have a go but that didn’t quite work out as the evaluation forms reflected that they wished I’d spent some more time on….. (insert stuff I rushed). Perhaps I need to be upfront with people about the fact they are just going to have to go away and play with the software.

The great thing about the evaluations is that I can now tweak my presentation and get it going better and better.

I’m looking forward to Learning at Schools and was encouraged to here Chrissy say some folk are hoping to participate in my presentation…. The more the merrier!

I’ll post the title and link to the presentation when it goes live later this week.
